Counseling for Kids, Teens & Adults in Plano and Collin County
Your neighborhood therapist in Plano and Collin County, here for the little hearts still learning their feelings and the complex minds trying to make sense of their own.
Life's heavy enough. Let's find the light in it — and remember how to play along the way.

Hi, I'm Aaron Helm, LPC-Associate.(1)
I work with adults working through hard, heavy stuff, and with kids who are still learning to put words to their feelings. I believe therapy should feel like a real relationship, not a performance, so that's exactly what you'll get with me.
Services(2)
Whether you're a parent looking for help for your child, or an adult carrying something heavy, you're welcome here. Here's how we can work together.
My Areas Of Focus(3)
View allHow Change Happens Here(4)
I Show Up as a Real Person
Not a wall, not a blank slate. From day one, you get my honest reactions and real presence in the room.
We Build Relational Equity
Trust grows slowly. It becomes the kind of relationship strong enough to hold honesty, even when it's hard.
We Notice the Patterns
How you make me feel is often a clue to how you show up everywhere else. We name it, together.
We Do the Hard, Honest Work
Real change doesn't happen around the hard stuff. It happens through it

Common Patient Questions(6)
A few things people usually want to know before reaching out. If you don't see your question here, feel free to ask during your free consultation.
Do you offer in person sessions, telehealth, or both?
Both. I offer in person therapy at my office in Plano, Texas, as well as virtual therapy sessions for clients located anywhere in the state of Texas.
Do you offer a free consultation before the first paid session?
Yes. I offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation so we can see if we're a good fit, or so I can point you toward other resources if we're not. It's a low pressure way to start.
Do you take insurance?
No, my practice is strictly private pay. Sessions are 45 to 55 minutes at $110 per session, and I accept both HSA and FSA cards.
Opting for private pay offers a vital layer of privacy for your child. Whenever insurance is involved—including submitting a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement—insurance providers require a formal mental health diagnosis to justify the claim. That diagnosis becomes a permanent part of your child’s medical history, which can follow them into adulthood and potentially affect future insurance applications.
If you choose to utilize superbills, I am required to include a formal diagnosis. However, if your priority is complete discretion, keeping your child's care strictly off the record, we simply forgo the superbill altogether. This ensures your child's therapy remains entirely confidential, personal, and between us—never shared with or stored by an insurance company.
Do you work at Connect to Thrive, or are you on your own?
I'm employed at Connect to Thrive in Plano, Texas, which is where I practice at. I'm an LPC Associate there, supervised by Katherine Dunham, MS, LPC-S, RPT-S™, ADS & Kelsey D'Amore, MS, LPC-S, RPT-S™, ADS.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a firm 48-hour cancellation policy. I completely understand that life happens and schedules can shift! Providing at least 48 hours' notice allows us to adjust without penalty, and whenever possible, I am more than happy to help you find another open time slot later that same week to reschedule.
Please note that this 48-hour notice policy also applies if you need to switch an upcoming session from in-person to virtual.
If you ever need to reschedule, cancel, or transition to a virtual session, please reach out as soon as you know so we can work together to find the best solution for your family.
